BASECAMP 3.0 PREVIEW
“Camp Anawanna, we hold you in our hearts…”
It seems every time I mention the 90’s sitcom “Salute Your Shorts” the conversation immediately dies. HOW can anyone not remember that show?! Or maybe I’m really just starting to show my age. ANYWAY. I had a chance to finally visit the venue for Basecamp 3.0 and the words “SHEESH” and “LFG” instantly ran through my mind on repeat.
The grounds itself is naturally a summer camp for children and that may be why I was getting flashbacks of that beloved Nickelodeon show at the time. The private 400+ acre lot is home to a ton of campsites, plenty of facilities, beautiful trees to camp under, and a massive horse meadow. Pictured you’ll see the grand pavilion which will be the epicenter of our event and gathering place for our activities, announcements, vendors, cook-off, kid activities, and raffle. The family zones are quite a bit away from the pavilion meaning it’s a perfect atmosphere for those families and individuals that enjoy a bit more peace and space. The ranch is perfect as it can gather everyone together yet still provide options for our guests based on their preferences and camping style. A few minutes after we left the venue, I could already see Big Bear Lake shining in the distance. The road that takes you to and from was a bit bumpy yet nothing too crazy, although I wouldn’t recommend a brand new car or a modified vehicle to travel it. Within 10-15 minutes we were at the lake and on our way back to Sacramento.
Being used to South Lake Tahoe to get away from the valley’s heat, I can say that Big Bear Lake is like a little brother to Tahoe. Very similar in that both lakes offer great weather, tons of activities, hiking, off-road trails, and amenities. Maybe it’s just missing the casino’s but that’s a vice we can do without. Either way, our group cannot wait for everyone to experience PURE 4X4 Basecamp at our new location. We are confident that the conversations that will come out of this trip will never really die.
These film edits are definitely not conventional of me, but I feel it reciprocates the nostalgic vibe I had that day. That and all my shots were pretty blown out from the blazing sun lol. Any who, we hope yo enjoy the preview and we hope to see you at PURE 4X4 Basecamp SoCal!
