Eagle Lakes Fall ‘21
With all the events returning to the latter half of 2021 it’s been hard to find time to get out and trail. Alas, the stars had aligned last minute and we found the perfect chance to get some dirt therapy. We were hoping for snow to get some footage with Ian (@eyawnclariza), but as of early November there was no sign of it. The major down pour we had in Northern California two weeks prior did offer a nice amount of water on the trails though!
Our lineup for today was Tommy (GX470 @2_tangz), Jason (Tundra @3gs_jaayyyy), Mike (FJ Cruiser @mike_lauryyy), myself (4runner @pureaddict), and Ian (4runner @eyawnclariza). It was actually also Ian’s first time trailing with his minty 3rd gen 4runner. The Pierce OHV and Eagle Lakes Trail is our go-to for bringing beginners out as it offers a good mix of dirt, mud, rocks, and technical areas. It’s also close enough to almost guarantee that only a day trip is needed.
Upon arriving we noticed it was a ghost town; we had the trails to ourselves and didn’t see another soul until we were back at staging about 6-7 hours later. The trail itself was mostly groomed, fairly straight forward, and offered beautiful views of the Tahoe National Forest and Eagle Lakes.
All in all it was a good day. Ian was able to devirginize without any hiccups! The only casualties we experienced were a few pin stripes and Jason’s chipped TE37XT wheel face (sad face). Needless to say, it was still another successful day trip with the PURE fam.
