PURE 4x4 Basecamp 6.0

Our goal for this event was simple: bigger and better. Which happens to be our goal after each event. You may not know or see it from an attendee’s perspective, but not everything goes as planned. And I’ll be the first to tell you that it never does. All we can do is plan the best we can and execute in the same fashion. With that being said, Basecamp 6.0 was a huge hit hitting record numbers in all fields. And this is with all thanks to YOU.

Events are merely plans for gatherings until someone buys into it. Whether you’re an attendee or vendor, the event itself is nothing without you being present. What still blows my mind is that everyone who was at Basecamp could’ve been anywhere else in the world, but they chose to be there.

Welcome to Basecamp 6.0. We had to skip Basecamp NorCal due to the extreme weather we experienced with crazy rain/snowfall that ultimately left the trails up North either closed or needing serious grooming. We didn’t want to risk this year’s Basecamp NorCal being either closed or performing under expectations due to the unpredictable weather, so we went right into Basecamp SoCal where the weather is relatively predictable. For this year we really wanted to break through as the premier “Overland Festival” by incorporating legit staging, lighting, and a live music lineup together with the usual overland and camping experience that Basecamp is known for. We all personally love the vibes that island reggae brings so we were fortunate to lock in Hawaiian artists Kaipo, Kelandy, Haleamano, Chardonnay, Shaggamon, Joseph Soul, and returning artist Keoni Thompson. We also added silent disco to our line up and it was a HUGE HIT. My only regret was I didn’t order more headphones, but trust me, next year we’ll be having double. Thank you to DJ One10, DJ Erok, and DJ Miss New This for keeping the crowd moving throughout the event. They all absolutely killed it and brought a whole new vibe to Basecamp.

Our vendors this year doubled in physical attendance. It was nice to finally meet our title sponsor, SRQ Fabrications and True North Fabrications, who traveled all the way from Florida to attend. Breland with YotaMafia also brought his infamous 4th gen 4runner from FL and hosted Friday’s “YotaMafia Business” trail run up John Bull. DuroBumps from Arizona and Runnin4Tacos from Colorado just to name a few of our non-CA vendors coming to Basecamp. It’s truly humbling and we are forever grateful for the tremendous support from all our vendors. The same can be said about our food vendors Dang Brother Pizza (San Diego), Generations Kitchen (Las Vegas), Chef Dandan (Sacramento), and Tasty Block Shave Ice -thank you for providing fire food and treats for everyone!

The guests this year were LIT! We also saw an increase in children which we love to see. Most of the PURE group are parents ourselves so we do love seeing the kids enjoy themselves at Basecamp. One of the things I love seeing is the rigs that have the vehicle passes from our previous Basecamp events. It’s even more surprising seeing Basecamp NorCal passes all the way in Big Bear. We’ve learned that we do have loyal supporters and this is exactly what keeps us going and striving to bring better to everyone. Huge shout out to Bhavin with the white 3rd gen Toyota Sequoia who drove all the way from North Carolina with his family! He also won this year’s “LFG PLACES” award (award for furthest driven distance to Basecamp).

Our guests also came out with some of the best rigs I’ve seen ever seen at an event. There were so many clean builds that I’ve seen on social media that was a pleasure to finally see in person. There were also some crazy unconventional builds at Basecamp such as an E46 M3 and of course the return of the OTG “Cool Bus.” It seems after each event the quality in builds just keeps getting better. Keep it up, I love to see it.

The PURE staff is just incredible, to say the least. It may not look like it, but when they’re not drinking the night away, these guys and gals put in hard work throughout the day with the many duties it takes to ensure an event of this size runs smoothly. This isn’t your typical event with set hours from 9-5; this event starts on day 0 and doesn’t end until days after the event is completed and it needs the manpower from PURE and our volunteers otherwise it just would not be possible. Thank you all for putting in the work and dedication for PURE.

Once again, THANK YOU from me and all of the PURE famila. We’ll see you at BASECAMP 7.0!
